Bolt Pattern Measuring Tools

Bolt pattern measuring tools provide a fast and accurate means to measure the the bolt circle on a hub or lug hugs in a rim. These tools are useful in dealing with parts that lack identifying markings.

The ‘F’ style wheel lug gauge determines the bolt pattern of a rim by slipping the two conical ends into the two closest lug holes of a rim and reading the value off the slide for the number of lug holes in the rim. This same tool can provide measurements off a hub if the wheel studs are removed (or capped with long enough through nuts. Some versions of this tool can accept stud posts and provided the measurements from the hubs studs directly.

Any potential slide inaccuracies can be be avoided using a set of lug-to-lug or bolt-to-bolt templates. A stud-to-stud template is ideal when confirming a bolt pattern repeatedly. Just make sure not to loose any of the pieces.

Out of place studs can be quickly detected with a full wheel/hub template. Each ring template is for a specific bolt count (4, 5, 6, etc). and has holes in steps for standard diameters.
