A recent investigation by The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has found skimming equipment at 103 gas station through out Florida. The skimming equipment was either affixed to the front of the pump or in some cases inside the pump cabinet. Running a card on a skimmer compromised pump makes your Credit Card or Debit Card information available to the person who installed the skimming device.
While numbers are low for most of the state, Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties have by far the highest count.

To better protect yourself you can…
- Pay in cash inside the store.
- Confirm the gas pump dispenser cabinet is closed and has not been tampered with.
- Use a pump closer to the front of the store.
If you are going to use a card, go with a credit card, not your debit card. Credit cards have better fraud protection. If you do opt to use a debit card, run it as a credit card transaction to avoid presenting your pin.
If you have filled with a credit or debit card in the last several months at any of the below stations, you might want review your account statements for any suspicious charges.
The list below shows the stations where one or more skimmer devices had been installed as reported in the Commission’s press release for May 15. To clarifying, this is NOT a list of bad stations but a list of location where individuals have affixed these devices to a station’s pumps (without the station’s knowledge).
